LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEER


 


Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Supervisory and administrative responsibility over a group of engineers or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Responsibilities include assuring effective utilization of engineering personnel, and technical quality.


 



  • Supervise and direct mechanical personnel assigned to the project team

  • Monitor all engineering activities to assure conformance with company work instructions and SOPs

  • Ensure adherence to client and/or company specifications, governing codes, and good engineering practice

  • Perform calculations and evaluations of various equipment and systems

  • Define and provide input on staffing and scheduling for the team's engineering and design effort

  • Ensure that the technical content of the inquiry/PO is appropriately reviewed, approved, and transmitted

  • Coordinate and participate in the development of mechanical engineering effort-hour estimates

  • Monitor the effort-hour budget, staffing plan, and schedule to ensure that project objectives are met, and execution is within the approved budget

  • Responsible for reporting on equipment status to the project manager and department manager, and performing monthly or bi-weekly assessments of progress

  • Establish the mechanical equipment list and maintain the technical content through regular updates

  • Initiate PDNs (Project Deviation Notices) that impact the mechanical effort-hour budget and/or schedule

  • Coordinate and cooperate with the lead engineers of other disciplines to ensure the smooth flow of all information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements

  • Conduct weekly status meetings with the mechanical team to convey department news, assess and discuss project issues, coordinate/plan key milestone efforts, etc.

  • Responsible for obtaining cost related information and developing scope of work documents for estimates

  • Establish/maintain proper interface with Client's representatives throughout the life of the project


Required Qualifications :

Qualifications



  • Recognized Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or University required

  • 15+ years of experience with engineering design of chemical plants and/or onshore oil and gas production facilities is required

  • Working knowledge of applicable codes (ASME, API, ASCE, etc.)

  • Familiarity with various project phases and the scope/deliverables required 

  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required

  • Registered Professional Engineering license preferred
