Exciting opportunity available in the Fairless Hills area of PA near Trenton, NJ.  We are looking for an experienced Safety Manager to work at a manufacturing site.


The Safety Manager is responsible for:


Job Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Director, HSE  (Health, Safety, Environmental)

  • Implements and manages the Annual HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) Plans

  • Lives and breathes safety; drives the “Safety First” culture

  • Acts as a consultant to business unit management and employees on the principles and concepts of HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) and Quality management

  • Executes the operating and compliance aspects of the HSE program

  • Provides HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) support to the Risk Management department

  • Drives entity initiative plans for HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) and quality implementation

  • Evaluates and drives professional development of department HSE staff

  • Provides direction on site and transportation security issues and interacts with Corporate Security to assure best practices and DHS compliance in place

  • Manages the daily activities of the HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) Specialists in each region.

  • Develops objectives, plans, and goals for each based on their workload and skill sets.

  • Establish and track goals, objectives and metrics as necessary. Reports monthly and annual HSE performance results to AL Group and ALIUS Operating Committee

  • Manage budget of HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental)  Department to meet the goals established by the Managing Director

  • Ensures thorough investigations/reviews are performed for all HSE related incidents.

  • Develops training plans to support rollout of best practices and continuous improvement

  • Manage the Compliance Audit program for HSE programs

  • Interacts with Corporate HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) Department regarding environmental projects and regulatory compliance

  • Monitors regulatory compliance for the company regarding Federal, State and Local regulations and initiatives. Coordinates regulatory compliance with affected departments as per the regulatory watch process

  • Ensures thorough investigations/reviews are performed for Regulatory violations and coordinates responses to regulatory agencies for penalty negotiations Implements best practices and safety initiatives as directed by Director, HSE(Health, Safety, Environmental), through project management and audit processes, including metrics and their application

  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations to improve the Safety culture of the organization; uses results of assessments to facilitate process improvement Reviews, updates and approves HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) content of training programs (safety management system, boot camp or other)

  • Supports project implementation by working with local management and employees to transfer knowledge

  • Follows, promotes, and supports all national and local policies and procedures in regards to best practices

  • Coordinates response of team members to meet or exceed internal and external customers’ expectations

  • Represents company at industry association committee activity such as CGA, NPTC, NSC, etc

Required Qualifications :

  • Strong knowledge of Safety systems

  • Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and EPA policies related to industrial gas operations

  • Experience in safety system implementation and change management

  • Strong knowledge of safety tools and metrics

  • Strong group facilitation skills

  • Ability to work with multiple levels of management and employees

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong convincing or “selling” skills

  • Corporate and field knowledge of Air Liquide, its work processes, management and employees is preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office suite (outlook, word, excel, project, power point, etc.)

  • Ability to travel as needs dictate, can be as high as 75%.

Bachelor’s degree in business/technical/safety/engineering
